Born in 1991, Lucky Nyasulu comes from Khwawa Village, Karonga district in Malawi. Being raised in an extended family of 11 people in rural areas of Mzimba district, life was not easy as parents were financially challenged. Her father is a civil servant working with Ministry of Agriculture as a Field Assistant and her mother is a home maker.
Despite agriculture being the main source of income, it was faced with a lot of challenges such as disease outbreak, post-harvest losses which resulted in low crop yields to her family and other community members. Lucky, was therefore, inspired to further her studies in agricultural-related course, which is Irrigation Engineering.
She is currently pursuing Masters in Community Studies and Extension at Egerton University, Kenya, with support from MasterCard foundation Scholarship. She is hoping to gain valuable knowledge which will enable her to go back and be able to positively contribute to her community and the agriculture sector in Malawi.
